The world’s most powerful solar power plant will be built in China

China plans to build a giant solar power plant with a total capacity of 8 gigawatts. The portal reports Electrek.

The combined project will also include a 4-gigawatt wind farm and a 4-gigawatt coal-fired power plant. They will be located in Ordos County, Inner Mongolia, China. The implementation cost is estimated at $11 billion.

The resulting electricity will be sent to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cluster in northern China via an ultra-high-voltage transmission line.

Construction of the power plant will begin in September 2024 and is planned to be commissioned in June 2027. The project is being implemented by state-owned energy company China Three Gorges Renewables Group and Inner Mongolia Energy Group.
