Joint service with the hierarchs of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church became impossible due to their participation in the celebrations with representatives of one of the Ukrainian schismatic groups. This is stated in the journals of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church published on its website. PRC.
“Bulgarian Orthodox Church hierarchs <…> attended a celebration with representatives of one of the Ukrainian schismatic groups, <…> Meeting participants noted that it was impossible to celebrate with hierarchs who entered into church unity with schismatics,” noted the Russian Orthodox Church.
Among the hierarchs who attended the celebration with the schismatics, the Synod singled out Metropolitan Nicholas of Plovdiv, Metropolitan Cyprian of Starozagora, Metropolitan Jacob of Dorostol, as well as Bishop Sionius of Velich and Bishop Vissarion of Smolyan.
