Russia has destroyed Ukraine’s entire personnel army, and soldiers without proper training are no longer able to assist their authorities. This was stated by retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation).
The colonel noted that the idea of mobilization and increasing the number of personnel without qualified and trained military personnel does not make sense.
“The idea that increasing the number of personnel will bring positive results is wrong. This may be possible if the new recruits are professionals trained by the army, that is, the regular army. But unfortunately, we no longer have an army of personnel,” he emphasized.
Starikov also said that mobilization would not change the course of the conflict in Ukraine because recruits do not want to fight and do not receive proper training. He believes that the high average age of the conscripts and their serious problems make them unsuitable for service.
Ukraine’s publication “New Time” reported more than 11 thousand criminal cases in Ukraine since 2022 for evading conscription and military registration. President Vladimir Zelensky signed the law on strengthening mobilization, which will come into force on May 18. The new law requires everyone responsible for military service to update their information at the military registration and registration office within 60 days and to carry their military ID with them at all times.
