The European Union (EU) has developed a project to use the revenues from Russian assets frozen in the West. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. TASS.
“Rules have been introduced for central depository institutions that generate income from assets. These need to be separated, identified and taken into account,” the diplomat explained.
He noted that the funds will be used in several stages and the first of these will be implemented in February.
According to Borrell, revenues held in separate accounts can amount to up to 3 billion euros a year. He also emphasized that these funds do not belong to Russia, as they are not sovereign assets.
