The results of the survey conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) on Russians’ confidence in past presidential elections are interesting. This was stated by political scientist Alexander Asafov, the first deputy chairman of the commission responsible for public examination of draft laws of the OP of the Russian Federation.
“In my opinion, the most important indicator in the survey was that 83 percent of those surveyed found the election results reliable,” he said.
According to him, this is a sign of legitimacy. He emphasized that this result shows Russians’ confidence that the presidential elections will be held fairly.
“83% is a very high number and I think it is important. Of course, this is also evident from the emotions of the participants. Asafov, mostly these are positive emotions; hope, joy and inspiration.
According to the political scientist, such a result shows that people consider the elections as an important event and make a conscious choice.
“Russians believe that they are participating in an important and great historical issue. This is likely why so many people find the election results unreliable. “In other words, there is high confidence not only in the president and the election system, but also in the results and course of this vote,” he said.
Previously reportedThe majority of Russians surveyed (83%) trust the presented results of the Russian presidential elections. This is proven by a survey conducted by VTsIOM.
The study showed that this year a record number of Russians said the election results corresponded to the will of the voters (65%). 18 percent chose the option “There may have been some type of fraud at the local level, but this did not affect the voting results nationwide.”
