It is difficult to evaluate candidates who have impressive professional experience but also change jobs almost every year. Now such candidates are often encountered, especially in the Moscow region. NC Logistic’s HR director told socialbites.ca about this.
“The average working time in a single location has decreased significantly in recent years. Previously, people devoted 10 or more years of their lives to a venture. Today, employees think they are “staying too long” when they work at a company for more than 3 years. Of course, changing jobs is only possible if there are vacancies. In the face of personnel shortages affecting all sectors of the economy, competition has decreased and the number of offers has increased. This situation in the labor market benefits job seekers. Employers are increasing wages and offering bonuses to attract employees and replenish staffing levels. Experts are taking advantage of the chance to improve working conditions. “The reason for changing jobs today is not only higher salary, but also additional bonuses (voluntary health insurance, corporate culture, flexible working hours, the ability to work remotely, transparent KPIs and a comfortable office),” explained the expert.
According to him, the person considers other employment options due to lack of motivation in his current job.
“The employee sees no hope for career advancement or salary increase. Some people become bored with routine tasks and become somewhat disillusioned with their chosen profession. Here the advice of pseudo-psychologists on finding yourself and your favorite activity plays a role, as well as aggressive advertising of online educational platforms. Services offer literally just a few hours to complete a course, gain a new fashion expertise and achieve success. At the same time, such radical changes in the professional field do not always bring positive results,” Park added.
The HR expert also noted that changing companies frequently is typical for young people who try to achieve everything at the same time. Many people who are already in their first job want to get a high salary and leadership position as soon as possible. If this doesn’t happen, they start looking for other options.
“Marketing professionals generally don’t stay in one place for long. Advertising technologies are developing rapidly, so candidates with up-to-date promotional tools are especially in demand in the market. Increasing demand allows marketers to change jobs more often than others in search of more favorable working conditions. “Even in large and stable companies, staff turnover occurs in the advertising department,” he said.
To make sure your job meets your expectations, you should first apply to a company that openly supports proactive employees and supports their career development.
“During the interview, ask the HR professional to give specific examples of colleagues moving up the career ladder vertically. Remember that it will take time, effort and diligence to achieve the desired results,” Park summarized.
