Archaeologists found a perfectly preserved fresco in Pompeii depicting ancient mythological heroes – a brother and sister rescued by the goddess Hera. This was reported by Arkeonews.
The fresco depicts siblings Frixus and Hella running away from home after their stepmother kicks them out, declaring them the culprits of the famine she has caused. They are rescued by the goddess Hera and escape on a magical ram with a golden fleece. But Hella could not stay here and drowned in the strait between Europe and Asia (named Hellespont in her honor). In the mural, he disappears into the waves while his brother Frisk survives. According to legend, he lived a long life in Colchis. This Greek legend is common in Pompeii, an ancient Roman city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius more than two thousand years ago.
The perfectly preserved fresco was found in a small, richly decorated house. Scientists say that the owners of this work tried to imitate the lifestyle of the elite through the paintings. Still life paintings and various portraits of women were also found in the house.
Previous scientists offered Preserve the papyrus with wasabi.
