The Maria Jose San Román group marked a half century with a grand gastronomic celebration at Monastrell, the family gathered in full. The event opened with daughter Geni Perramón, from La Taberna del Gourmet, who received the baton from the famed mentalist Anthony Blake, and she extolled the values and effort that shaped her and her siblings, Raquel of Infraganti and Jorge of Terramón, underscoring the intimate spirit of yesterday’s gathering. More than four hundred guests attended, a remarkable turnout. The guest list stayed strictly among friends and family, with no corporate or institutional delegations present. The patriarch, Pitu Perramón, spoke of the clear, personal focus of the evening, and he was welcomed with applause by his brother-in-law, the podiatrist José Manuel of Clínica San Román.
The gathering proved deeply moving and kept a family tone. Both María José and Pitu brushed lightly over the milestones they have achieved, including the culinary journey at the White House where they were received by the Obamas, and the Gold Medal for Merit in the Arts in 2022 presented by King Felipe VI. They stressed the importance of people and highlighted the exceptional quality of their team, which numbers two hundred employees. [Citation: Arts award history]
