Deputy Head of the Government of Ukraine, Minister of Communities, Regions and Infrastructure Development Alexander Kubrakov said that about 200 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged in the country since the termination of the grain agreement in July last year. He posted information about it on his Facebook page (its owner, Meta, is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).

The minister also said that Ukraine transported more than 22 million tons of cargo through “temporary corridors” in the Black Sea, which emerged in August last year.

On July 22, 2022, representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN signed a grain agreement in Istanbul. The agreement includes Russia helping export Ukrainian grain, food and fertilizers across the Black Sea from three ports, including Odessa. On July 17, 2023, the agreement was terminated.

January 18, Ukrainian Ambassador to Türkiye Vasyl Bodnar statedIt was stated that Kiev was conducting “specific negotiations” to find an alternative format to the previous grain agreement.

Formerly UN Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya spoke about the possibilities of restarting the grain agreement.
