Scientists from the University of Michigan conducted a survey of 2,657 older adults and found that music had a beneficial effect on at least one aspect of life in 98% of them. Frequent exposure to music has been linked to better physical health. This was reported by MedicalXpress.

Three-quarters of respondents ages 50 to 80 reported that music helped them relieve stress or relax. Nearly everyone (98%) said playing music benefits them in at least one health-related aspect.

41% said they attended live music performances in person at least a few times in the past year. These were mostly people with higher income and education levels.

Those who reported good or poor physical health, as well as those who felt isolated, were less likely to listen to music than healthier, happier people.

Scientists have noted that music has a positive effect on human health: it can lower blood pressure and relieve symptoms of depression.
