Green Marathon 2024, one of the world’s largest running festivals organized by Sber, will be held in 60 cities of Russia on June 1, Children’s Day. The date was not chosen by chance: all funds collected as part of the registration of participants in the sports event will be used to improve the education and orphan experience of children with intellectual disabilities. The deputy chairman of the company’s board of directors explained that Sber announced a large-scale sports and charity festival for the whole family on February 7, because exactly 10 years ago the grand opening of the XXII Winter Olympic Games, in which Sber participated, took place in Sochi. a direct link: it was the general partner of the games.
“In general, the Green Marathon, which started in 2012, two years before Sochi 2014, appeared thanks to these Games, which became a powerful impetus in the development of physical culture and sports in the country,” added Stanislav Kuznetsov.
He explained that in each city, participants will run the main distance – 4.2 km, or one-tenth of a marathon – and that any runner can run this distance. In some cities there will also be other distances, races for children and Nordic walks.
According to Kuznetsov, the widest range of distances will be in Moscow, where the start will again take place in the very heart of the capital, at Vasilyevsky Spusk, near the Kremlin and Zaryadye Park. Anyone can participate, regardless of skill level. The meaning of the Green Marathon is that everyone who starts at any distance is already an athlete.
According to the deputy chairman of the board of directors of Sberbank, this situation will also be interesting for fans. He called the “Green Marathon” a family celebration of a healthy lifestyle.
Kuznetsov noted that a large number of events are planned: concerts, promotions, competitions for children and adults. In each case, visitors will learn more about Sber and its services, win prizes, and participate in social and charity events.
Early preference registration for participants with a 10% discount will open in Moscow at the end of February. Free registration in the regions begins in March.
Kuznetsov believes that the “Green Marathon” is a unique opportunity to recharge with energy, maintain a good mood and help children.
