The creation of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) will make it possible to develop a new satellite control system and test technologies for long-distance space flights. This was stated to the agency by Vladimir Kozhevnikov, Deputy General Designer of RSC Energia and Chief Designer of ROS. Interfax.

The station will interact with devices in a single intelligent system, which will provide them with more opportunities. However, there are no plans to use ROS as a transfer base for flights.

The station will test technologies and equipment for flights to the Moon or Mars.

Kozhevnikov also noted that the preliminary design of ROS was reviewed by leading scientific organizations of Roscosmos and submitted to the state agency for approval. He expects the draft to be adopted in early February.
