Iran insists Houthis acted on their own and did not follow orders
Iran reiterated that Yemen’s Houthis acted independently and did not follow Tehran’s orders in their attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, state agency IRNA reported on Monday.
“Resistance forces in the region, including Yemen, act independently in their own interests, and the Islamic Republic of Iran does not give them orders,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdolahian said in a meeting with clerics on Sunday. said.
Iran captains the so-called Axis of Resistance, a loose alliance consisting of militant organizations such as Hezbollah, the Houthi rebels, the Islamist movement Hamas and Islamic Jihad, as well as numerous groups in Iraq and Syria.
Although Tehran denies that the deeply anti-Israeli and anti-American actors in this unofficial alliance act under its command, it admits that it supports them.
