The newspaper writes that due to personnel problems, the British Navy command was forced to place an ad on the job search service LinkedIn, seeking candidates for the position of rear admiral for submarines. Timesreferring to the advertised vacancy.
The publication said the selected candidate will replace current Royal Navy Rear Admiral Simon Asquith, who heads the submarine department and is responsible for “elite operations” and nuclear weapons work.
“A Navy job posting posted on LinkedIn in December raised eyebrows in the military community, with one former soldier calling it deeply embarrassing,” the article’s authors write.
Journalists state that there is currently no soldier suitable and willing to take on this duty. So Navy officials decided to reach out to retired military personnel in the hope that some would return with higher pay.
