Two additional passenger services are set to begin operating between Moscow and Belgorod in the coming days, as announced by the press service of the Federal Passenger Company (FPK). A formal statement from the railway authority was published, outlining the new schedule and capacity details for these routes.
On January 9 and 10, train number 527/528 will depart from Belgorod toward Moscow at 11:00 local time on both days. In the reverse direction, the same train will leave Moscow at 23:20 on January 10 and January 11, respectively. The consist for this service includes 10 wagons and is configured to accommodate up to 482 passengers, reflecting a standard regional capacity for peak travel periods.
In addition, on January 7 at 01:36 in the morning, an extra run of train number 220/219 is scheduled to depart from Belgorod to Moscow. This service features 13 reserved seating cars and compartment cars, with a total room for 536 travelers, highlighting the emphasis on comfort and space for long-distance passengers.
Moreover, the statement notes an improvement to the Lastochka service with five additional carriages added to the 720/719 Lastochka train, raising the total seating capacity to 341. This augmentation aims to better serve daily commuters and visitors who rely on this important corridor.
The railway plan indicates that the Lastochka service is expected to operate on a daily basis in both directions. From January 7 to January 30, the day service from Moscow is scheduled to depart at 14:10, while from January 8 to January 31, Lastochka will depart Belgorod at 4:32. This schedule supports steady demand along the Moscow–Belgorod corridor, balancing regional travel needs with capacity management.
These changes come as part of ongoing efforts to expand passenger options along the Moscow–Belgorod line, offering travelers more frequent departures and varied seating configurations. The FPС press release emphasizes that the expanded fleet and revised timings are designed to improve travel reliability and convenience for residents and visitors alike, with particular attention to peak travel periods and holidays when demand typically rises.
In related news, there were reports that tickets for a Chelyabinsk–Ekaterinburg service previously listed as available did not correspond to an existing route, underscoring the importance of consulting official timetables published by the ФПК or its regional partners to avoid confusion. The railway authorities remind passengers to verify current schedules and seat availability through official channels to ensure accurate travel planning. (FPK press service)
