Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken announced in a press conference reported by CNN that police received 911 calls about multiple shots fired at the Paddock Mall, adding: calls described an “active shooter” scenarioso they responded with “a strong police presence.”
“Officers immediately entered the mall and discovered this was not an active shooting incident,” Balken said. Authorities described the incident as a planned act of violence. In the police’s Facebook post, it was stated that the place was evacuated and there was no longer a threat.
