Chairman of the Crimean State Council and Co-chairman of the Special Working Group Vladimir Konstantinov said that Crimea was transferred to the Ukrainian SSR in 1954 in violation of numerous Soviet regulations. This was reported by RIA News.
“The famous transfer of Crimea led to a record amount of legal nihilism and disregard for the legislation in force at that time. I don’t know what prevented this entire procedure from being formalized by law in 1954. But on the other hand, if legally verified decisions had been made, we would no longer have anything to object to and no grounds to appeal to the court,” Konstantinov said.
The working group was examining the legal basis for the transfer of Crimea from the RSFSR to the Ukrainian SSR on April 26, 1954. The group detected violations of the laws of three constitutions at once – the All-Union (USSR), as well as Russia and Ukraine.
