Israel accuses Guterres of siding with Hamas in calling for a ceasefire in Gaza
The Israeli Government this Saturday accused UN Secretary-General António Guterres of siding with Hamas in demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.
“Guterres’ call to side with Hamas and ask for a ceasefire undermines the dignity of his position,” Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen wrote on social network X.
“The invocation of Article 99 after it had not been used in the war in Ukraine or (…) Syria is another example of Guterres’ partial and unilateral stance,” the minister added.
“A ceasefire achieved now would prevent the collapse of Hamas, the terrorist organization that commits war crimes and crimes against humanity, and allow it to continue ruling the Gaza Strip.” he warned.
