According to the public prosecutor’s office, a criminal case has been opened in Buryatia for the illegal extraction, storage and transportation of more than 250 kilograms of jade with a total value of about five million rubles. This has been reported Web site departments.

The investigation alleges that from May 2022 to March 2023, the defendant carried out unauthorized mining activities in the Bauntovsky district of Buryatia and the illegal storage and transportation of jade in its natural form (in the form of alluvial river rocks and pebbles). The total weight of the seized jade is over 250 kilograms and its value is estimated to be approximately five million rubles.
