Every year, sculptor Mikhail Bopposov from Yakutia sculpts the New Year symbol from dung. However, this year it will not be able to please the residents of the region. The dung dragon will not be destined to decorate the festive square, since Bopposov retired for a while due to cancer. “It has not started yet. He is currently being examined in the hospital. He is probably about to finish his treatment. His condition is stable,” he said.
According to him, the management is monitoring the sculptor’s health and taking every possible role in providing him with medical care. Mikhail was diagnosed with the disease in the summer of 2021, the creator’s wife Zoya told reporters.
Mikhail Bopposov started making animal sculptures for the New Year in 2011. For 12 years, he made sculptures of a monkey, a snake, a dragon, three horses, a rooster, a team of dogs, a goat, a family of tigers and a bull chewing the coronavirus with steam coming out of its nostrils. and last year he made a two-meter mechanized rabbit beating its paws on a drum.
