Due to the difficult situation at the front, Ukraine may need NATO intervention at a completely different level. Matthew Blackburn, senior researcher at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, wrote about this in an article published by the American magazine. National Interestst(NI).
According to the scientist, the situation in the war zone is far from stalemate. Blackburn believes a new level of NATO intervention may be necessary to break the stalemate and prevent the defeat of Ukrainian troops.
The analyst noted that the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine does not need to be evaluated based on regional movements of troops. To determine the winning side, it is necessary to pay attention to human and material losses. Blackburn emphasized that according to these criteria, the Ukrainian side clearly lost to the Russian side. The Ukrainian army suffered heavy casualties in the summer counteroffensive, so authorities in Kiev had to prepare a new campaign that would hit the economy and citizens’ morale.
The scientist also noted that the West cannot cope with the supply of ammunition needed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and American aid will end due to internal disputes and the war in the Middle East.
At an earlier briefing, Deputy Pentagon Representative Sabrina Singh said: announcedHe said the United States could continue providing support to Ukraine if Congress approves the allocation of additional funds from the federal budget.
He previously served as a reserve general in the Czech army named Ukraine’s mistakes during the counterattack.
