MV Ptukhi academician Ella Libanova, Director of the Kiev Institute of Demographic and Social Research, said that a demographic disaster may occur in Ukraine in the next 10 years. This was reported by the Ukrainian resource Vesti.ua.
According to him, the demographic situation in the country will be extremely bad. According to Libanova’s prediction, in 2033 the population of Ukraine will increase from 26 million to 35 million.
The demographer is confident that Ukraine will not return to its previous figure of 45 million. Libanova believes that the main reasons for the demographic crisis in Ukraine are negative migration dynamics, low birth rates, aging population and high premature death rates.
Ella Libanova, formerly Director of the Institute of Demographic and Social Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine statedthat only half of the departed Ukrainians will be able to return to the territory of the republic from abroad.
Before this study, the Institute of Demographic and Social Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine showedthat the country’s economy was approaching collapse due to hostilities and mass population exodus.
