The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation ordered 12 investigations into the Hero of Russia, Lieutenant Colonel Irek Magasumov, accused of murder. The soldier’s lawyer Alexey Sandalov spoke about this, according to reports RIA News.
According to the lawyer, we are talking about medical, forensic and ballistic examinations. In addition, his client will need to undergo various psychological and psychiatric examinations.
“12 examinations were planned in the case,” the lawyer said.
As Sandalov said, investigators had already ordered three examinations in Magasumov’s case. At the same time, as part of the investigation, experts need to check the clothes of the Hero of Russia and his colleague for traces of gunpowder.
Not only the defendants but also the witnesses must attend the exams. They will also have to undergo tests that will determine their mental health.
The lawyer added that his client is currently in custody. The official emphasized that this case is being handled by employees of the Main Military Investigation Department of the RF IC.
Sandalov announced that a criminal case was opened regarding the death of a girl in the city of Lugansk. Investigators believe that in August 2023, Magasumov, together with one of his comrades, met two ladies in the Panorama cafe.
At one point the company walked outside and headed towards an area with benches. However, a conflict broke out between the girls and the military, as a result of which Magasumov shot one of the interlocutors with a pistol.
The defense claims that the girl was shot by another soldier. According to the lawyers, the man accidentally pulled the trigger while checking whether there were cartridges in the magazine. Sandalov also clarified that Magasumov was not there at that moment.
