A modern method of repairing nerves was named after Biophysicist Tagandurdyeva: a broken nerve can be repaired using hollow tubes

For example, if a nerve is damaged to a significant extent, grafts in the form of guide tubular channels – channels are used. Great St. Nurjemal Tagandurdyeva, an employee of the Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnology at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, told socialbites.ca that with their help it is possible to repair both a completely broken nerve and a severed nerve.

To do this, scientists use hollow tubes filled with guides. They help the nerve heal, accelerate it and increase the degree of healing.

“The use of tubes involves restoring the integrity of the nerve by connecting the ends of the tube to its ends. This was exactly the research model. We “cut” the sciatic nerve of laboratory animals, creating a specific diastasis (defect) and replacing the defect with a filled tubular implant. Laboratory animals lost their motor activity, which returned to normal after a certain period of time,” Tagandurdyeva explained.

If a nerve breaks irregularly, as often happens in real life, the ends are cut and connected with a tube.

“For example, if a person has an accident in real life, it is not clear what the nervous disorder is. As a rule, the nerve loses its functionality due to damage to a completely incomprehensible situation. The expert noted that in such cases, the nerve is “cut” and then the damaged ends are joined.
