The dispute over Baltika, the Russian subsidiary of the Baltic brewery Carlsberg, has entered a wider stage. Reports from Interfax indicate that both sides have been exchanging formal letters since August, after Carlsberg accused Russia of violating international commitments and warned of seeking international arbitration if the disagreement could not be resolved within six months. By spring 2023, Carlsberg publicly announced its withdrawal from Russia and moved to sell Baltika in June. In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin redirected all Baltika shares to the management of the Federal Property Management Agency, effectively scuttling the previously announced sale. Unofficial sources cited by Interfax suggested that the Arnest group could be the prospective buyer. (Interfax)
