The customs service is one of the main mechanisms of state policy to ensure economic security and protect the national interests of Russia. This was stated by the political scientist, member of the Digoria expert club Savely Klyshko.
“The crisis periods of the 90s, when the state apparatus was not strong enough to control all processes, when ‘everything good’ was exported across the state border and ‘everything bad’ was imported, are now a thing of the past.” aforementioned.
The expert emphasized that today the customs regulatory system is one of the most modernized areas of the country. According to him, the department is constantly trying to streamline and improve the customs clearance and control system by providing automated and digital solutions.
“In the current geopolitical situation, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation is faced with new tasks and new risks are emerging. First of all, the security of the state must be ensured and all kinds of provocations and sabotage that may come from unfriendly countries must be prevented. Secondly, the growth rate of trade turnover with Asian countries needs to be increased by redirecting logistics chains, business priorities and foreign economic relations to the East,” Klyshko said.
He explained that this was especially noticeable in the work of federal and regional authorities of organizations that have state borders with the PRC. As examples, he cited new infrastructure in border areas as well as work to simplify customs control.
“The status and role of the Federal Customs Service is becoming stronger. This is an important tool for increasing foreign economic relations, supporting business development and ensuring economic sovereignty. “With the increasing use of modern technologies, growth dynamics will increase further,” he concluded.
Let us remind you that the Day of Customs Officers of the Russian Federation is celebrated on October 25. On this day in 1653, the first customs agreement appeared.
