As a result, people get sick more often with ARVI, and their eyes get tired and inflamed faster due to reduced production of tear fluid. “People with bronchial asthma and other allergies may have more frequent attacks in dry air,” he said.

Lack of moisture also has a negative effect on the skin: the skin’s own evaporation of moisture increases, as a result of which it loses elasticity, begins to peel off, becomes more sensitive and susceptible to allergens and infections. In addition, due to dry air, oxygen is absorbed less in the human body, which leads to hypoxia and, as a result, fatigue, dizziness and bad mood.

“To prevent diseases, it is necessary to maintain a normal microclimate in the apartment and humidify the air. This is especially important if there are children in the room: they are more susceptible to dry air and viruses. The expert noted that the easiest way to do this is to use a special moisturizer.

If you cannot use a humidifier for any reason, you can try to make the atmosphere of your home more comfortable by using existing products. It is recommended to place containers with water in the room next to the radiators or hang wet towels: the moisture evaporating from them will saturate the air. Those interested in growing flowers may have plants that can increase the humidity of the air. These include areca catechu palm (betel nut palm), Boston fern, spiderwort, and spathiphyllum. To prevent drying of the skin and mucous membranes of the eyes, it is worth using moisturizing lotions and creams.
