According to World Health Organization (WHO) experts, by 2024, the number of people aged 65 and over in European countries will be greater than the young population under the age of 15. The research was published in the official gazette Web site WHO.

A new report highlights the role of physical activity and diet as key factors affecting people’s health. The authors emphasize that moderate exercise and a healthy diet help prevent cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, dementia, mental disorders and other non-communicable diseases.

WHO experts recommend that elderly people eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and avoid processed foods high in sugar, salt and fat.

Also, to maintain health in old age, experts recommend devoting at least 150 minutes a week to physical activity, which reduces the risk of premature death by 28%. More intense training can reduce the likelihood of death from any cause by 35%.
