Scientists from the University of Novi Sad in Serbia found that creatine is effective in aiding recovery from coronavirus. It turns out that this sports supplement can relieve the feeling of chronic fatigue in people who suffer severely from Covid-19. In this respect reports TimesNewsUK.

12 adults who tested positive for Covid-19 in the last three months participated in the study. All of them experienced severe fatigue and weakness caused by the long-term coronavirus. Volunteers were divided into two groups; The first group took powdered creatine mixed with water daily, and the second group took a placebo. After three months, participants taking creatine said they felt better, and after six months their fatigue was reduced. Subjects in the placebo group did not notice any positive changes in their condition.

After six months, it was revealed that creatine levels in the skeletal muscles and brains of the subjects in the first group increased by 33%. Volunteers no longer had difficulty concentrating. Researchers suggest this is because creatine plays a role in the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which stimulates energy production in cells.

The study authors added that creatine did not cause side effects in any participants and can be recommended as a safe and effective treatment for post-COVID-19 fatigue syndrome.
