The organization, which has helped some victims lodge complaints with judicial authorities, said it was “deeply concerned” about the victims. Various attacks were carried out against the people of Carrefour-Feuilles since the beginning of August.
Last Friday, 78 of the victims filed complaints with the Dean of the Port-au-Prince First Instance Court, Magistrate Bernard Saint-vil, alleging murder, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, destruction and arson. “The complaint alleges that 71 people were killed, 5 people disappeared and 10 people were shot. Victims also reported that their homes were looted, burned, occupied or destroyed by armed bandits,” the statement said.
Since August 4, heavily armed bandits, members of the Team Ascenseur gang operating in Grand-Ravine and led by the alias Ti Lapli, have been killing and burning many towns in Carrefour-Feuilles with impunity, causing human and material losses. Armed groups control most of Port-au-Prince and other parts of the country, and hundreds of murders, kidnappings and other crimes.
