In the statement, it was stated that approximately a thousand bullets were planned to be destroyed. Razvozhaev noted that before that, experts had removed these bombs from the bottom of Gilzovaya Bay.
“Today, employees of the Ministry of Emergencies at the training ground in the Kara-Koba region will carry out the planned destruction of 1,000 ammunition from approximately 15.30 to 17.00 Moscow time. <…> It will be very noisy, so I warn you in advance,” said the head of Sevastopol.

During the war, Sevastopol held the defense for about a year, and fierce fighting took place around it. Soviet troops were only able to recapture the settlement in May 1944, but victory was preceded by a four-day battle.
Gilzovaya Bay is located not far from where the last line of defense of the settlement was located. For this reason, there was a lot of ammunition left at the bottom, and this is where it got its name.
