Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Zvezda shipbuilding complex, which was implemented in the Primorsky Region by a consortium of investors led by Rosneft. The President of the Russian Federation inspected new ships, including those under construction.
During the visit, he also attended the naming ceremony of two reinforced ice-class ships and congratulated the company employees and the crews of the new ships.
“Two new ships of the civilian fleet will be named. The oil tanker will bear the name of our writer, beloved by many, Valentin Savvich Pikul, whose work is largely devoted to national history, our fleet and the defenders of our Far Eastern borders. And the gas tanker was named in honor of the statesman, Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers Alexei Nikolaevich Kosygin, who made a great contribution to the development of the Far East, our entire country, the economy and its key industries. ” said Putin.
According to him, the Zvezda team will have to solve new important tasks, including increasing localization of production and widespread use of domestic developments and solutions.
“I am absolutely sure that with each new ship delivered, the level of localization at Zvezda will constantly increase,” he added.
The head of state was briefed on the construction process of two icebreaking LNG gas tankers of the ARC7 ice class, the formation of whose hulls are currently ongoing in a dry dock. At the same time, Putin was presented with the Aframax tanker Vostochny Prospekt, which is currently preparing for sea trials, and the multifunctional supply ship St. Besides Maria, the MR tanker Ivan Aivazovsky and the gas carrier Pyotr Stolypin were also shown. As the company notes, the production of such ships is a unique experience for the entire Russian shipbuilding industry.
“The development of such a fleet is of great importance for our country, which is an Arctic power; There is demand for the implementation of our long-term strategy for the development of the Arctic to ensure reliable transport on the Northern Sea Route. Putin said that global transportation and logistics routes should be developed to strengthen the energy security of our country and the whole world.
It is stated that the latest ships successfully built at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex are “Valentin Pikul” and “Alexei Kosygin”. A total of 12 ships have been launched at the shipyard, 4 Aframax tankers with a total dead weight of 450,000 tons have been delivered to customers, and the construction of 23 of more than 50 ships in the company’s order portfolio is actively ongoing. The total dead weight of the orders exceeds 3 million tons.
In less than 7 years since the start of production activities at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, significant technological issues have already been resolved, basic facilities have been commissioned and put into operation – a hull production unit, painting booths, a block assembly workshop, a Russian Open heavy equipment skid with its unique fleet of cranes, ‘s most modern and productive pipe processing workshop.
