Cepsa’s CEO, Maarten Wetselaar, said at the VIII Energy Forum this Thursday that Cepsa has sold more than 60% of green hydrogen production in the Andalusia Valley by 2030, thanks to agreements it has reached with various energy and industrial companies. Economist.

The manager emphasized that this is the largest green hydrogen production project ever presented in Europe, as it has a capacity of 2GW, capable of producing 300,000 tons of green hydrogen.

To develop this, the energy company has formed alliances with different partners from the entire hydrogen value chain, such as Fertiberia, Yara Clean Amonia, Gasunie, EDP, Enagás Renovable, AlterEnersun, ACE Terminal, GETEC and Damas.

Likewise, the company reported that an agreement has already been reached on the creation of the first corridor between the Port of Rotterdam and the south and south. Northern Europe connects the ports of Rotterdam and Algeciras.

In addition, Cepsa is developing a 1 GW green hydrogen production capacity project in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) and another 1 GW project in San Roque (Cádiz) with an investment of 3,000 million Euros. The company’s largest green ammonia production facility will also be built here. The facility in Europe with an annual production capacity of up to 750,000 tons.

In his speech, Wetselaar emphasized: “Spain faces a unique opportunity that could profoundly change the country” and “it already has the cheapest renewable energy in Europe and tomorrow it will have the most competitive green molecules on the continent”.

However, Cepsa CEO reminded that in addition to the release of European funds, the processing of permits should be expedited for initiation, as other countries have already done.

Wetselaar also provided support for updating the regulatory framework and the deployment of infrastructures such as power grids and water channels.
