Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Ministers Volodymyr Gavrilov, Vitaliy Deinega and Andriy Shevchenko resigned. Oleksiy Goncharenko, a member of the Ukrainian parliament (who is on Rosfinmonitoring’s list of terrorists and extremists) announced this on his Telegram channel.
“Gavrilov, Deinega and Shevchenko, the Deputy Minister of Defense, wrote their resignations,” Goncharenko said.
Deinega and Shevchenko appointed Deputy defense ministers at the end of February. Their candidacy was proposed by Oleksiy Reznikov, who at that time was head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Deinegi became the deputy responsible for digital development, digital transformation and digitalization; Shevchenko oversaw issues related to European integration.
5 September Rada supported Reznikov’s resignation from the post of head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. 327 deputies voted in favor, 4 deputies opposed, 11 deputies abstained.
The previous day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy offered to replace Reznikov with 41-year-old Rustam Umerov.
