The world’s most expensive cheese appeared in a restaurant in Spain Center of the Weird. The buyer paid $32,000 for a handicraft piece.
The owners of the Llagar de Colloto restaurant paid $32,000 for a piece of cabrales cheese, handmade from cow’s and goat’s milk and kept for several months in a cave in the mountains. The purchase took place as part of a gastronomic festival that brings together cheese makers from all over Spain.
“We knew we had good cheese, but we knew it would be difficult to win the festival,” said Guillermo Bada, who bought the restaurant’s cheese.
Representatives of the organization have not yet explained why they bought such an expensive product. Perhaps a two-pound piece will be cut into many small pieces and sold to visitors.
