In Norway, several dozen deer returning from Russia were slaughtered in order to save on compensation for damage to nature. This has been reported Associated press.

On August 24, 42 deer were transported from Norway to Russia over a dilapidated fence in search of suitable pastures. According to the source, the animals are grazed in the “Pasvik” nature reserve in the Murmansk region.

In connection with the incident, Norway has to pay Russia $4,700 for each reindeer that crosses the state border. In addition, the country’s authorities will have to pay around $4.4 million for all the days the animals spend in the sanctuary.

“Returned animals have since been slaughtered for fear that they might return to Russia,” the agency states in its material.
