At the international Buddhist forum “Traditional Buddhism and the Challenges of Modernity”, a resolution was passed in which the aim of Buddhists was declared “to reduce all forms of violence in the world”. This was reported by the correspondent “socialbites.ca”.

In the final decision of the forum, our aim is to reduce all forms of violence in the world.

Forum participants also agreed that Buddhist organizations should participate in government and public programs “aimed at promoting civic identity and social responsibility.”

The authors of the resolution also said, “Buddhist wisdom combined with practices is an important factor in eliminating contradictions and conflicts, in healing after psychological and emotional trauma, and in seeking harmony of mind and body.”

The Forum’s resolutions include the need to take steps to improve Buddhist education, deepen research into the medical and health heritage of Buddhism, promote the translation and digitization of Buddhist texts, and influence the formation of human environmental awareness.

The forum “Traditional Buddhism and the Challenges of Modernity” was held in Ulan-Ude from August 17-19 at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Buryatia, Alexei Tsydenov. The chapters were attended by Buddhist scholars and orientalists, representatives of diplomatic departments and public institutions, as well as followers of the Buddha’s teachings from religious communities in South and Southeast Asia, Mongolia, China and other regions.
