ford Perte formalized his request for help from funds Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC) to electrify the Almussafes factory, as approved by the company elevator-EMV, From the Iberian Press Group. The company did not provide details of the request in addition to another request for a Perte grant for battery line projects. What steps are we following with this decision? Carlos Faubel, head of the works council of Ford Almussafes and leader of UGT-Ford, has already passed on this newspapermade a commitment to steer the oval company at the European level with regard to its presence both in the battery line and in individual projects mostly related to the production of electric cars.
first Party
The Oval multinational raised 106 million euros in the first Perte VEC last year to promote the production of electric cars, but resigned because it did not have time to invest all the funds before 31 December 2025, one of the conditions for the aid. The Spanish Government negotiated with Brussels and managed to ensure that the funds from the new Perte were used until 2028, which opened the door for Ford. The first pure electricity from Almussafes would not arrive until at least 2027.
battery assembly plant
The money Ford wants from the battery line is a cell assembly plant. Automotive companies set up such facilities next to their factories in order to save on logistics costs. Each vehicle needs 200 to 400 cells and these are called ‘battery packs’. Seat will invest 300 million euros in one of these factories in Barcelona, and Hyundai 200 million euros in the other factory in Navarra. These last two facilities will assemble Sagunt gigafactory’s batteries.
