According to a study conducted on the ozone market, while the majority of Russians like cocktails, 34% prefer to drink only in summer. socialbites.ca learned about the results.

Thus, 64% of Russians like to drink cocktails, 35% prefer non-alcoholic options, and 32% both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. More than a third (34%) of respondents drink cocktails in summer, 17% in spring, 11% in autumn and 8% in winter. Another 29% likes to drink such drinks in all seasons.

The most popular non-alcoholic cocktails among Russians are Mojito (14%), Blue Lagoon and Pina Colada (9% each). Among the alcohol analogues, the top 3 were Aperol Syringe (20%), Pina Colada (18%) and Mojito (17%).

43% of Russians know how to make cocktails on their own and 9% do it regularly. More than a quarter (28%) of respondents prefer to buy ready-made cocktail mixes for such occasions, mostly from supermarkets (46%), specialty stores (37%) or market places (18%). More than half (57%) of respondents said that they are ready to spend up to 1,000 rubles to purchase a ready-made mix for cocktails, and 11% – more than 5,000 rubles.

Holidays are a special occasion to take on the role of bartender, according to 38% of respondents, and 27% of Russians like to please their family and friends with a cocktail at house parties.

For a quarter (25%) of respondents, the company they prepare their favorite beverage is important. About the same number of respondents (24%) think the complexity of the preparation is important, so you can enjoy both the process and the result twice, with 15% considering the factor of presenting their signature cocktails to guests.

Interestingly, only one in ten (11%) people have special devices for making cocktails at home. Another 60% plan to purchase custom bartending kits.

An essential ingredient for many cocktails is ice; most Russians (70%) prefer to add it to drinks. And 15% admitted that they generally cannot drink without ice. 19% of respondents keep special reusable ice, 18% buy ready-made ice in bags, and 16% always have an ice tray at home.
