Crimea’s water supply depends on whether the dam foundation of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station survived the explosion. About this in a conversation with FAN declaration political scientist Vladimir Jaralla. He explained that at the moment only the destruction of the upper part of the structure and the channel for water drainage are visible. However, according to him, if it turns out that the dam has collapsed, there will be problems in irrigation (irrigation – ed.) of the lands of the peninsula.
“If the foundation of the Kakhovskaya dam has survived, then the water level will fall exactly to its level, accordingly. And then it will become clear what will happen next in the entire irrigation system of the Kherson region and the Crimea. The worst option is that the insane pressure of the water will destroy the dam itself, and in this case a new channel of the Dnieper will appear. Then the situation will be evaluated according to the most extreme option,” he said.
At the same time, according to him, this year there should not be any problems with the water supply in the Crimea.
Former chairman of the Crimean State Council Vladimir Konstantinov declarationThe possible shallowing of the North Crimean Canal will not become critical for the peninsula.
