“About 500 Turkish soldiers from the 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade will form the basis of the alliance’s reinforcements. Additional NATO forces have been placed on high alert and will be deployed as needed.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the country has begun deploying a battalion of special forces in Kosovo. At this demand, NATO returned to Ankara.
On 1 June, Stoltenberg said 700 soldiers had moved to Kosovo to reinforce the existing NATO mission in KFOR province, following a gunfight in Zvecan that left nearly a hundred people injured at a demonstration of the Serb minority.
