NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg after meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan behind closed doors expression gratitude to the Turkish authorities for the decision to send troops to Kosovo due to the unrest in the unrecognized state.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the country has begun deploying a battalion of special forces in Kosovo. At this demand, NATO returned to Ankara.

On 1 June, Stoltenberg said 700 soldiers had moved to Kosovo to reinforce the existing NATO mission in KFOR province, following a gunfight in Zvecan that left nearly a hundred people injured at a demonstration of the Serb minority.
