Los Angeles area, 1939. A mysterious blonde woman. A veteran detective by name Philip Marlowe. Rich and bad family. A murder. A drug trade hiding in some movie studio. A few truths and many lies. Doors with frosted glass. The shadow of some shutters that cut the characters’ faces. Neon lights reflecting in a puddle. We are in the purest realm of film noir – in color – without half measure: neil jordan With ‘Marlowe’ he made an atmospheric, more than just right, calligraphic film that, while lacking the intensity of the genre’s classics from the ’40s and ’50s, had an atmosphere. Liam Neeson is a Marlowe – eternal character created by Raymond Chandler- old and disappointed, more so than Robert Mitchum in “Bye Bye, Doll” and “Private Detective.” He now quotes other Marlowe, Christopher and Joyce. But he does what he does best: investigate, get in trouble, and figure it out.

The movie is adapted from the novel. ‘Blonde with black eyes’, by 2014 John Banville signing detective novels, also known as benjamin black. Satisfied with his series on forensic pathologist Quirke, the Chandler mansion asked him. Banville-Black wrote in Chandler’s dry prose style, and Jordan adapted the novel with equal respect for its classic portrayal of the genre, as warped as all Chandler’s stories.
