Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Britain’s claims that depleted uranium munitions are not leading to results are false. Putin said this on the broadcast of the TV channel “Russia 24”.

At the same time, the Russian leader noted that such ammunition really does not belong to the category of weapons of mass destruction.

“But the core of a projectile containing depleted uranium still produces so-called radiation dust, and in that sense, of course, belongs to the most dangerous weapons,” he explained.

The Russian president emphasized that uranium munitions are the most harmful and dangerous weapons, both for people and for the environment, due to radioactive dust.

“Not just for the combatants, but for the combatants, for the environment and for the people living in this region,” Putin said.

The Russian President also said that the Russian Federation has something to answer for bullets with depleted uranium. According to Putin, the Russian Federation owner hundreds of thousands of similar ammunition, but they have not yet been used.
