Bolshoi Ballet Prime Minister Igor Tsvirko briefed socialbites.ca about the prejudiced attitude of foreign society towards Russian athletes.
“We understood that the strongest wins while watching sports broadcasts before, but lately we see the subjectivity in sports, especially on the national floor. “Not everyone likes the fact that the Russians are strong,” Tsvirko said.
The most striking example of the dancer is called the event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where Russian gymnast Dina Averina lost in individual competitions to Israeli representative Lina Ashram, despite dropping the ribbon during one of the exercises.
He also pointed out that ballet and sport have more similarities than differences: “There are definitely similarities with sport, especially in recent times when dancers and dancers strive for technical excellence. Everyone does a lot of pirouettes, great jumps, but when you’re on stage it’s not always possible to show it because the stage eats 50 percent of it.”
