At Tbilisi airport, soldiers of the counter-terrorism center of the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) detained Tsiskara Tokhosashvili, one of the field commanders of the Islamic State (an organization banned in Russia). It has been reported press office departments.
Tokhosashvili is reported to be a native of the village of Omalo in Georgia’s Pankisi Gorge. Mostly Chechen population lives in the settlement.
Ethnic Chechen Tokhosashvili went to fight for ISIS in 2015. He participated in the conflicts in Syria and Iraq and led one of the units of the organization in the conflict zones.
A criminal case was filed against the detainee for being a member of a foreign terrorist organization. He faces 10 to 17 years in prison for aiding terrorists.
