Interrupted sleep has been associated with an increased risk of death. Article about it published Works at npj Digital Medicine
These conclusions were made by experts from the Stanford University School of Medicine. To do this, they examined recordings of 12,000 people’s sleep characteristics. This data was processed by a computer algorithm that determines the “sleeping age” – the trait that affects human health – for each person.
The results obtained made it possible to calculate the changes in sleep most strongly associated with death. It turned out that those who experienced sleep disruption had a higher risk of early death – people who often wake up for less than a minute at night and don’t remember it.
Therefore, sleep disturbance appeared to be a reliable predictor of death. Why these symptoms are harmful, experts want to explore in further studies.
