Scottish geologists of Herito-Uott University discovered tremendously embedded mud waves buried at a depth of the Atlantic Ocean. The discovery rewrite the history of the ocean and its role in old climate changes. The study was published scientifically magazine Global and planetary change (GPC).
The team, 400 km away from the Guinea-Bisau coast, found a sedimentary waves of one kilometer long and hundreds of meters high. The contour drifts formed by strong currents are accompanied by mud hills. Five geological layers that protect the traces of tectonic processes were opened.
Education emerged at the equatorial atlantic gates – a throat that occurred during the division of Gondwana 117 million years ago.
“Imagine the underwater waterfall of super water pouring into a young ocean,” Uisdin Nicholson explained.
Wave analysis showed that the Atlantic Ocean began to establish 4 million years ago (117 million years ago instead of 113 million years ago). The opening of the throat provoked global warming due to carbon emissions. Later, ocean currents started the cooling period.
According to researchers, this was a turning point in the history of the world’s climate.
Previously, scientists learnedThe old tectonic impulse reduced the history of evolution of humanity.
