Scientists from the University of California found that fibromodural protein (FMOD) could prevent the formation of scars after injuries. This showed a study published In Nature Communications (Natcom).
After receiving skin damage to FMOD in the body, the researchers announced that it formed a complex with an inflammatory molecule called Interlökin 1β. Secondly, it prevents the excessive activity of myofiboblasts – cells responsible for healing wounds.
During the experiment with the participation of 54 volunteers, scientists activated the production of peptide from FMOD in the skin of the subjects. This made it possible to significantly reduce the number of myofiboblasts after the end of the recovery and prevented the formation of excessive sikatric fabric.
Previously, the effect of fibromodulin has already been associated with sleeveless healing of fruits and a decrease in scar in adults. A new study confirms the potential of injuries, surgical interventions and drugs that can reduce the consequences of burns.
