French neurobiologists from the High Pedagogical School in Paris have discovered that Karakul could communicate with each other with the help of complex movements of Tentacles. The study was published at the following address Portal Centered Scientific Publications Biorxiv.
In laboratory experiments, experts revealed four stable movement patterns: vertical waves, horizontal waves, rotation gestures and complex combinations.
When it was particularly affected by the researchers, Karakatits’s ability to recognize these signals even in the video – Mollussks actively answered the recording of relatives, but ignored the opposite images.
In addition to visual signals, it uses hydrodynamic waves created by blackout movements.
Tests with a hydrophone showed that mollusks distinguish between “right” and “mixed” vibration sequences that show a complex communication system.
“This discovery changes our ideas about the invertebrates,” the authors of the study said.
Immediately in scientists’ plans – apply artificial intelligence to decipher the values of certain “gestures” and vibrations. The study can shed light on the evolution of communication systems in the animal world.
