Scientists analyzed the data of 25 previously published works devoted to pain syndrome factors in the cervical spine. More than 43 thousand people from 13 countries participated in the study.
The use of smartphones turned out to be the biggest danger: those who spend a lot of time by phone are 82% higher than those who use devices less. While working on the computer increases the risk of 23%, it has no significant impact on watching TV.
The study also showed that it adversely affects health in itself for a long time spent in the sitting position. Sitting four hours a day increases the risk of neck pain by more than 45%and more than six hours – almost 88%.
According to the authors, long -term bending of the neck and stain, when working with electronic devices, create an excessive load on the cervical spine and upper back.
